Sometimes I get the image of a rodeo, or a roundup thing.
You know, the guys with the rope trying to get the steer down.
Branding?
What do I know? I’m a New Yorker.
But the image is so strong with me –
It’s the women (mostly) tugging and pulling at their ropes. At the other end are the guys shrieking, “Noooooooooo!”
“Noooooooo, I won’t go to therapy! Any kind of therapy!
Nooooooo.”
They never say why.
Of course not. Because there is no “why.”
The latest example of this is a husband who already paid to work in the program and doesn’t want to.
His reason?
“Well, my wife has been in your program (alone) for a while, and she’s not always in Self.”
Welcome to the human race, sir! No one, including me, is always in Self. (Did you hear my airport story? Remind me to tell you.)
My late husband used to say “If you put a bunch of angels in a room, they’d get mad at each other because their wings brushed.” And they aren’t even human. So, for sure, humans.
Anyway, my point was that these guys are scared to death. They won’t budge. They will not join.
(Kudos to YOU, the guys who DO!)
So the question arises: If you work with me alone, will it fix the marriage?
Tonight, learn the five reasons why 2 people working together is best and the rare exceptions to that. Learn the science behind why it is not generally going to work – and what you can do about it.
